It is the weirdest set up I have seen. It bolts to the back of the th400 and has a switch in the car to shift to overdrive. He is thinking about taking it out.

The 4L80E is a much larger transmission with stronger internal components. The 4L80E was thought to be the modern, overdrive version of the TH400 when it first hit the streets. From a strength and performance perspective, the 4L80E is definitely a player. Its downsides are size and weight.The Powerglide (2-speed) shifter was able to be used without modification for the TH350 or TH400 (3-speeds).
