I've been browsing/shopping for a new contoured tenor case and on Amazon have seen the brand Crossrock cases that are supposedly made of fiberglass that look sturdy and nice. Last year I purchased a Selmer Mark VI low Bb baritone from 1957, and I am currently enjoying practising and playing on the horn. I own two Mark VI altos, one from 1961, the other from 1971. It's all about tongue position. High overtones are more like whistling through the sax than anything else. The Yamaha 875EX II is definitely one of if not the finest alto saxophone made whether Wally argues such or not. The only disagreement I have with Wally is the quality of the V1 neck. But Wally did a damn fine job of putting an excellent video together.The AWO1 is a really free blower, and easier to play overall. The tone is a more focused and intonation is spot-on with minimal adjustment on my end. My wife commented that I look much more comfortable playing the AWO1. Finish on the AWO1 is excellent overall.
