The damage from a Sharp Flamberge is mediocre when compared to that of a Crushing Claymore, massive difference when 2h and cursed.

Claymore is the technically better weapon with a larger swing range and higher damage but IMO Bastard Sword is cooler. Well, using the bracelets and ring of avarice, killing him nets you about 12.5k or so, on your first NG. It's 6060 souls with bracelet and ring in NG. Slightly more in PBWT.
