It can be the shift motor! Mine was stuck between 2 and 3. code 22. could not manually shift it (locked in place). DCT is actually not a new idea, first invented in the 1940's, developed in the 80's for racing, the first to hit the road were 2003 Volkswagens.
Remove the shift motor and gears (very simple to do). Remove all the factory stiff, gummy grease that was put in the shift gears. Now, replace all that grease with a liberal amount of ALL-temperature, White Lithium Grease. Reassemble, and your shifting will be better.
