The 9.0 liter was used in the 1980s. Also, the T444E was known as the 7.3 liter and the DT360 as the 6.0 liter. The DT360 and DT408 are similar to the DT466.You are correct. The IH engine is timed on #8 cylinder with firing order 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Factory setting should be at 5 deg before top dead center. It is recommended about 12 deg advance at idle depending on your engine and drivetrain set up. Hope this helps.The 6.9 IDI is a four-stroke, naturally-aspirated V8 diesel engine. IH Engines. 9.0L V8 diesel. Hey All, Im looking for someone that might still have parts available for an IH 9.0L V8 diesel. Its a 1984 in a s1754 truck. Im mainly looking for injectors. I see ebay has one, but I think thats for the tractor motor. I mainly bought this truck for the chassis and transmission.The 9.0 liter is probably the most hated medium duty motor ever made. I would put it down as worse than the 8.2L Detroit and that's saying something. A 6.9 liter has the same power, is more reliable, and is cheaper to repair than one of these boat anchors.
