Feb 3, 2020 · In English grammar and morphology, a morpheme is a meaningful linguistic unit consisting of a word such as dog, or a word element, such as the -s at the end of dogs, that can't be divided into smaller meaningful parts. Morphemes are the smallest units of meaning in a language. Other than these two main types of morphemes bound morphemes are also sub divided into two categories. These are derivational morphemes and inflectional morphemes. Derivational morphemes as the name indicates are derived forms. When they are used in the sentences they change the part of speech.
